The remote control handle features an exclusive design enabling right or left-hand installation along with a new thumb operated trim switch that is easier to use. The kit includes a key switch, emergency lanyard, warm-up lever, start-in-gear prevention switch, neutral lock and throttle friction adjustment, and warning horn. A caution about installing these units upright as may be needed on a centre console RIB. It is very easy to depress the detent lever during normal gear changing. In moving from forward to neutral, for example, the detent lever is easily depressed so the reverse gear may be inadvertently engaged. The detent lever must be consciously released to prevent travel past neutral. With a horizontally mounted unit, the detent lever must be actively squeezed to move to reverse. If your BRP remotes box is mounted pretty much vertically so that the gear lever is horizontal, treat it with respect, otherwise your gearbox may be at risk!
